Flemish Biodanza School

Mutual trust & commitment

The Flemish Biodanza School is committed to valuing everyone's individuality, based on transparency and trust.

Biodanza is about experiencing and expressing movements and emotions. This is best done in your native language. You will then absorb all specific Biodanza terms in more detail. Our students also become proficient in describing the beauty of every human being. They can propagate this anthropological aesthetic in their lives and in the directions of their vivencias.

Translation is always provided when we welcome a foreign teacher. We invite them based on their specific knowledge, insight and warm human qualities.

We closely monitor each student and encourage everyone to take an active biocentric position in society: you spread what you experience and learn in the program to the world around you.

The courses are residential, and we expect everyone to participate in the daily life of the group. Providing meals, preparing and maintaining the living and dancing space, receiving guests, ... we rely on personal involvement, mutual help and solidarity.

“What we need to live is intimacy, transcendence, nurturing relationships and a stimulating environment. The satisfaction of these natural and fundamental needs is what we strive for.”

Rolando Toro Araneda

The Biocreative Diary

is a deepening and rooting method based on the danced vivencia as we know it in Biodanza.

As a student- e you will be introduced to individual and group assignments to shape your creativity: during the school weekends , in your reports, at the vivencia and also possibly as a basis to make your monograph.

Our team is trained for this and ready to guide you!

Individual guidance

The training in our Biodanza School is not limited to transferring knowledge and developing skills. A real transformation is taking place on several levels. We believe it is important to communicate openly with each other about this.

That is why you will be invited for an individual interview in the first phase of each training year.

In the first year, this is about your motivation to participate in the program and to get to know each other. In the second year, the topic of discussion is your transformation in all areas where Biodanza moves you and the support you may need. The interview at the beginning of the third year is also aimed at whether or not to continue with the practical part of the program. Your motivation letter and what the teachers within the school see as possible for you are the guiding principles.

During the course, individual guidance in the field of dance is possible where necessary or desired. This can be offered in addition to the movement workshop that is for the whole group.

Active processing

We strive to apply the biocentric-vivencial didactics developed by Rolando Toro Araneda.

After each training weekend there are processing assignments about the content of the module. You make these, individually or in an intervision group of fellow students. You hand them in before the following weekend. A group of students prepares a processing moment in the time between the modules. This is an active working method in which all students participate and they are invited to reflect on and summarize the theory of the previous module.

"The challenge for a good teacher is not how many questions the students can easily answer, but how many questions they are inspired to answer that the teacher finds difficult to answer."

after Alice Wellington Rollins

Movement workshop

The gateway to development in Biodanza is movement. Each dance contributes to the process of integration. It is therefore important to perform the different movement categories correctly, not just for your individual process. In fact, it is essential if you want to become a facilitator.

On Sunday morning we therefore devote half an hour of extra attention to specific movements, a didactic moment for the whole group.

"Good teaching is about asking the right questions rather than giving the right answers."

Josef Albers

Poetics of human encounter

"The Flemish Biodanza School shows a sensitivity to poetry and to Rolando Toro's proposal to conceive Biodanza as the poetics of human encounter. In this context, I was invited to teach the extension Biodanza, Poetry and Experiential Writing to the students of the school Inge Struyf, director of the Flemish Biodanza School, translated the material of the expansion into Dutch, helping to bring its content to the Dutch-speaking world.

In the Biodanza facilitator, awakening the poet who lives in her or him is part of our mission. We train people to guide the awakening of others through sensitivity and beauty."

“Since my first training weekend in France, I have had the desire to share with others in my mother tongue the strength and subtlety that I have experienced in the theoretical and practical experience of Biodanza.

Biodanza gave me the power to free me from sickening systems. They gave me the message at an early age that asking questions and being versatile often frightens and excludes. Other educational systems usually could not provide the necessary insight to develop me further.

Dance is a common thread in my life, dance orients me. I have been professionally dedicating myself to dance, education and human health for more than 30 years.

With a specific approach of Biodanza, education and dance therapy, I teach children, young people and adults to love their gifts and peculiarities. They learn to develop further in harmony with their environment.

Outstanding European and South American Biodanza teachers, including Rolando Toro Araneda, have enriched my training path. With them I was allowed to specialize in, among other things, Biodanza for children and adolescents, biocentric education, identity and the four elements, the evolution project, radicalization of progressiveness, Biodanza and body reading and Biodanza, poetry and vivencial writing.

My special gratitude goes out to my colleagues who helped form the Flemish Biodanza School: Gerda Van den Dries, Greet Selderslaghs and Inge Liesens and to the support team of the school.

Meeting Biodanza has grown into gratitude and love for the existence of this poetic yet precise system that profoundly and permanently changed me.”

“I used to think that I couldn't study, that something was wrong with me. I'm actually quite intelligent. The method of combining vivencia and theory really opens doors! I've become more myself, and enjoy who I am every day. It is wonderful to share all my talents in the vivencias that I now give myself.”

It can happen

It can happen

That Love finds a way

A royal road

In so many different forms

In complete safety

It can happen

That connection arises

Through all limitations

And only discovered possibilities

It can happen

That there is abundance

When enthusiasm is shared

And women's power comes into its own

It can happen

That Sparkles of Life

Merge and form a mosaic

Full of beauty, fire of life, full of harmony
